I have really enjoyed pottering around with walk2012, moving things along at a fairly leisurely pace, what with the Olympics being 2 years away. The blogging has been a new experience for me and I have really enjoyed watching the viewing stats increase over the months. Felix knows only too well how competitive I have got over how many views of the blog or how many followers on Twitter. Alas we are both totally overshadowed and in awe of her friend Wazz who has notched up over a million views on her blog. I think her lovely labrador pup Bruce has more followers than our combined efforts!
It has been a wonderful project and I am very proud of the idea and the enthusiasm it has received from walkers, runners, and great folk from the National Trust and English Tourist Board, as well as a surprisingly high number of knitters. But nothing tops the number of nudists! Ever since I let slip about skinny-dipping at Studland the search engines have sent more than a thousand nudists in my direction. Wouldn’t it be brilliant to have a team of nudists on the walk? Fingers (and legs) crossed!!
I remember vividly how inspiring it was talking to the guys at NASA a few years ago and seeing the depth of their commitment and passion for space exploration. I had always hoped that everyone involved in the London 2012 Olympics would be as passionate and committed to the Games as the people at NASA. I am delighted to report that everybody I have spoken to has been amazing, and my current contact is simply incredible. She has been doing some investigating on various ideas for fundraising and the effort she has put in and responses she got is incredibly positive and it has made me feel I need to step-up the pace to match expectations.
People – the time for pottering about is over!
Above is the list of things (click for a larger image) that need to be sorted out to make the walk the kind of sparkling event I want to be associated with. I think you’ll agree – there’s quite a lot to do! You may spot a few things missing from the list. Please don’t be shy about letting me know. If you have any ideas about who can help then please shout too! It is obvious to me that even after eating my spinach I’m going to need a hand
