The Games Way Guide is (finally) done! Download it for FREE

The blog has been exceedingly quiet this month because I have given myself a good talking to and finally knuckled down to producing The Games Way Route Guide.

It is available to download for FREE by clicking this link. You will have to give your email address, but that is only because I am interested in who downloads it and because I may ask for feedback at a later date. I won’t pass on your details to anyone else.

…just 4 weeks to go!!!

Cheers, Mark

Just wondering what the situation is with including OS maps in your walking guide/website. Did you have to contact them and work out an agreement? Curious because I’m creating a walking website. Any advice would be useful – thanks, Nick

Hello Nick, thanks for your question.
I am in touch with OS to double-check but my understanding is that it is ok as long as the images from OS Getamap are specifically to do with my submission, in other words – the route, and there is no commercial gain. So for example, I clearly couldn’t just publish maps of different towns, but if I had plotted a route through a town then I could show a map of that route. Check out the T&Cs for getamap if you are concerned.
For your website I recommend you look at the amazing amount of goodies OS offers through its open data scheme – one of the OS guys has written a wordpress plugin that will plot your route (.KML or .GPX) on an OS map in a window on your website.
I would also heartily recommend you follow @socialhiking on twitter – they are doing some very cool things with maps, routes and social media.
Best of luck with your website – happy to link to it from here when you are up and running.

    Cheers, Mark
